AI training and AI tools for Aalto University teachers and students
Starting from 28 April, Aalto University’s own generative AI tool, the Aalto AI Assistant, was available to all members of the university community – students, teachers, and staff. Based on the same language models as ChatGPT, the Assistant offers a significantly more secure way to study, work, and develop ideas within Aalto’s environment.
Generative AI is becoming a core skill – and we make it easy to get started. After just an hour or two with our learning materials, you'll already have a clear understanding of what AI is, how it can support your work, and what ethical principles guide its use. The key is to start exploring – confidently and responsibly.

Aalto AI Assistant was available for students starting from 28 April 2025!
Support and training for both teachers and students
Aalto is strongly committed to building AI skills, particularly among teachers and students. Starting in spring 2025, we are launching self-study material that introduces the basics of generative AI and how to use Aalto AI Assistant effectively and ethically. The material is designed for everyone – especially for those who are new to the topic.
For teachers, a range of training sessions will be offered, focusing on hands-on practice and examples of how to use AI tools in teaching. The first training opportunities start in May and continue into the autumn with more advanced topics.
For students, a 5 credit online course will launch later in autumn 2025. Before that, all students can get started using the self-study material to learn how to use AI responsibly and effectively in their studies.
