At course completion, you will:

- know more about Finnish customs
Content
-Basic vocabulary of daily life and the basic grammatical structures of Finnish (partitive and genitive, verb types
1–5, possessives)
- Practice situations related to everyday tasks and social life (asking and answering questions)

Evaluation
Passing the course requires regular attendance, active participation in class and completion of the given homework. Writtenand oral examination. The weight of the different assignments in the final evaluation is specified at the start of the course.
Teaching time and location
25.8.-13.10.2026. Teaching hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 16.00-18.00. No teaching on Tue 1.9.due ºÚÁÏÍø Day One 2026 (opening ceremony for the academic year).
This course is conducted as intensive 7 week in-person instruction on campus, the teaching takes place at Aalto University campus at Otakaari 1, Espoo.
Teaching hours are not recorded. Students are expected to be present at the lectures.

Exam details
Written and oral examination. The written examinations will be held as a remote examination in MyCourses. Oral examination time will be given by the teacher. The teacher will give further information on examinations.
The written examination is on 15.10.2026. No registration is required.
Re-examination will be held on 18.11.2026. Please, register in Sisu on 11.11.2025 at the latest.

This course is organized by the Aalto University Open University.
The number of participants is limited to 35. The course will be organized if there are at least 12 registered students.
