Learning outcomes

At course completion, you will:
- be able to talk more extensively about your pastimes and hobbies
- be able to take part in discussions regarding work and make enquiries about jobs
- be able to find the main information you need on course topics
- understand and be able to write brief texts concerning work

Content

- Expanding basic vocabulary (e.g. leisure time, hobbies, work life)
- Expanding knowledge of grammar, including plural forms and forms referring to the past
- Conversations related to working life, information retrieval, practising reading and writing skills

Prerequisites

Finnish 3 (ALC-7230) 3 credits or Finnish 2B (ALC-7322), 2 credits or equivalent knowledge

Evaluation

The course requires regular attendance, active participation in class and completion of homework assignments. Written examination and oral test. The weight given to the various assignments in the final grade is specified at the start of the course.

Teaching time and location

13.4.-10.6.2026. Teaching hours on Zoom on Mondays and Wednesdays on 16.30-18.30. Teaching hours are not recorded. Students are expected to be present at the lectures.

Exams

Written and oral examination. The written examinations will be held as a remote examination in MyCourses. Oral examination time will be given by the teacher. The teacher will give further information on examinations.

The written examination will be held on 11.6.-17.6.2026. No registration is required.
Re-examination will be held on 3.8.2026. Please, register in Sisu on 27.7.2026 at the latest. 

The teacher has four (4) weeks to grade the exam submissions starting from the exam date.

This course is organized by the Aalto University Open University. The requirements of the course are the same as in the degree studies at Aalto University Language Centre.

The number of participants is limited to 30.
Please note that this course is organized when there are at least 12 students registered for it.
