Doc+ Dialogues panel discussion series
This panel features Anu Honkalinna, who supports researchers in navigating spinoff creation and research commercialisation at Aalto University; Imran Asghar, Associate Professor, Docent and a startup co-founder of SMART+IONS, whose work spans clean energy technologies; and Frank Martela, author, philosopher and researcher with two doctoral degrees, whose work on human motivation, meaningfulness, and wellbeing explores how individuals and organizations can support purposeful work and human flourishing.
We'll discuss e.g. the following topics:
- How can researchers define impact in ways that align with their personal values?
- What does it take to move an idea from the lab to society or markets?
- How do commercial, societal, and human forms of impact differ—and how can they reinforce each other?
- What early decisions most influence a researcher’s ability to create impact later on?
This event is designed for all Aalto doctoral researchers and postdocs as well as doctoral alumni with the aim of connecting scholars and practitioners from multiple fields and research traditions. You are warmly welcome to listen, question, and reflect with peers who are navigating similar uncertainties and ambitions.
What is Doc+?
Doc+ is Aalto University’s new initiative for strengthening the doctoral and postdoctoral community through shared learning, peer connection, and professional growth. It brings together researchers from all disciplines to engaging and enjoyable panel discussions, new courses and co-innovated social events. The initiative has wide support from Aalto faculties, Aallonhuiput Doctoral Researcher Association and Aalto Career Design Lab.
