Courses for all stages of your studies
The Language Centre offers students language and communication courses as part of their degree program, as well as elective courses. In the language courses, you will learn to communicate orally and in writing in different situations. In many language courses, you can progress from beginner courses to advanced courses. Communication and interaction courses focus on negotiating skills, presentation skills, and listening skills. In addition to courses, separate support is available for writing and academic communication, for example.
The Language Centre is also involved in many projects where we support students' employment through language and communication studies. We engage in diverse cooperation with various universities and other actors. Together with Aalto's different schools, we are developing practices to integrate language, communication, and interaction studies into subject teaching.
Language and communication training for staff
The Language Centre organizes language and communication training for university staff in collaboration with the university's human resources development services.
In addition to staff courses, university staff members can also participate in courses primarily intended for degree students, provided that there are places available. Staff members can also contact the Language Centre if they want personal guidance in oral or written communication in English, Swedish, or Finnish.
Why languages and communication?
Aalto is Finland's most international university. The Language Centre helps build an inclusive community at Aalto, where our national languages and other languages are learned and used in a variety of ways. The Language Centre plays an important role in supporting student employment through language and communication studies. We train our students for future communication situations that require versatile teamwork and interaction skills, as well as the ability to guide their own learning.
