Finnish academia and companies lead the way towards sustainable nonwoven products in SUSTAFIT research project
Sustainable fit-for-purpose nonwovens project boosts the competitiveness and broadens the export potential of the Finnish nonwovens sector in the growing markets. The 2,6 MEUR project is conducted by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) and Aalto University and supported by 17 industry partners.
Universities work together to promote the growth of wood construction
The Doctoral School of Industrial Wood Construction at Tampere University is starting collaboration with Aalto University. The goal of practical teaching and research involving industry is to combine science and business. At the Doctoral School, the partners are bringing together knowledge based on research on wood construction and educating more specialists that are needed in the field. Especially environmental reasons are in favour of the construction of wooden high-rise buildings.

AllWell? - Annual study wellbeing questionnaire to be open 15 February–1 March 2023
The annual study wellbeing questionnaire, AllWell?, gives insight into the students’ views on teaching, their study wellbeing and study ability as well as peer support. This year, the questionnaire will be open from 15 February to 1 March 2023 and will be emailed to all second-year bachelor’s students and first-year master’s students.
Semiconductor sector summer jobs open in research groups
The growth of the semiconductor sector and its investments in Finland are also increasing the need for skilled personnel. Thanks to a donation from four semiconductor companies Picosun, an Applied Materials Company, Okmetic, Murata, and KYOCERA Tikitin. Aalto University will offer exciting summer jobs in the School of Electrical Engineering and the School of Chemical Engineering in the summer of 2023. Semi-Summer 2023 Programme will provide an opportunity to gain the skills needed in a growing and international field.
