Saara Saarela to direct The Guardian of Water

The movie based on Emmi It盲ranta鈥檚 award-winning novel Memory of Water has begun filming. The Guardian of Water (Veden vartija in Finnish) is directed by Saara Saarela, professor of film directing at Aalto University.

Studies in the Design for the Performing Arts major to be relocated from Aalto University to Uniarts Helsinki

Relocating the Design for the Performing Arts major from Aalto University to Uniarts Helsinki鈥檚 Theatre Academy will strengthen the teaching provided in performing arts: thanks to the change, the subject will soon be offered under the same roof as several other degree programmes in performing arts. Teaching and research in the Production Design and Costume Design majors in the Programme in Design for Theatre, Film and Television will continue to run at Aalto University.

Two books by Aalto ARTS Books were awarded in an international competition

Aalto ARTS Books has received prizes in the International Creative Media Award (ICMA) competition. Both awards came in a series where science and textbooks were awarded: Juuso Koponen's and Jonatan Hild茅n's work Data Visualization Handbook won gold and Pasi R盲bina's Print of Beauty received the 鈥淎ward of Excellence鈥, which is awarded for outstanding performance.
