Three new university lecturers at the School of Chemical Engineering
The School of Chemical Engineering is strengthened with the appointment of Heli Lehtivuori, Otto Mustonen and Suvi Holmstedt as university lecturers. Their expertise in areas such as spectroscopy, materials chemistry and organic chemistry will enrich the teaching and research at Aalto University.

While the actual contents of the areas should not be changed, we would like to double-check if the terminology we are using is still up to date. Voice your opinion about the titles we use for the key research areas, and if minor updates are needed in the terminology.

Student Rasmus Mäkinen: courses that requires creativity have helped me understand energy and mechanical engineering studies better
Rasmus Mäkinen, a bachelor's student in Energy and Mechanical Engineering Bachelor's programme, feels that physics was already a favourite subject during his upper secondary school studies, which led him to study at Aalto. The best thing about his studies has been the versatility of the courses, and especially the Computer-aided Design course impressed Rasmus so much that he decided to apply for it as a course assistant.

Jarno Mäkelä joined Aalto’s Department of Neuroscience and Medical Engineering as Assistant Professor of Biophysics in early September, together with research fellow Taras Redchuk, postdoctoral researchers Dan Noel, Eveliny Nery, doctoral researchers Ada Pajari and Aakeel Wagay, and research assistant Chris Hayes.
