Scalable platform solutions are not created in the mobility sector → Common rules and preconditions should be created for scalable solutions
The business objectives and incentives of operators in the mobility sector (public funding and market-based incentives) are difficult to reconcile when building platform-based mobility service solutions.
How should the platform economy be promoted in the mobility sector?
Can Finland take its place in the global growth market of smart mobility? The platform economy offers mobility sector companies a significant new opportunity for growth, internationalisation and finding solutions to the societal and environmental challenges of mobility. In this policy brief we present three recommendations related to innovation policy that support the development and growth of the platform economy in the mobility sector.
ViCCA students' exhibition (Un)seen: In the Dazzle of Infrastructure at Galleria Aarni
The exhibition (Un)seen: In the Dazzle of Infrastructure starts from an analysis of infrastructure with a focus beyond its more tangible manifestations. Infrastructure shapes not only our physical landscape, but our habits, culture, and temporality. It is at its most effective when it blends seamlessly into our surroundings and evades our consciousness. The exhibition’s approach to infrastructure is built around the solar, each project drawing different connections to infrastructural byproducts and our connection to the sun. (Un)seen: In the Dazzle of Infrastructure is a collective curatorial project and exhibition realized by ViCCA students. It features works both by course participants and artists selected through an open call.

NDI Policy Brief 15: Accident information is needed to prevent emergencies in the Arctic waters
Increasing economic activity in the Russian Arctic has resulted in the growth of vessel traffic related to trade, exploration and research, marine tourism, and natural resource extraction activities. This has heightened the risk of maritime accidents.
NDI Policy Brief 14: Healthy ageing policy in Russia needs to consider gender, age, and territory
The Russian government has adopted various national policies and programs in the last decade in response to population ageing in the country. In this Policy Brief, the authors analyzed the targets and actions of two ongoing healthy ageing policies, and how their effectiveness could be improved.
Policy Brief: ND Environmental Partnership as a platform for nuclear cleanup of sunken objects in the Arctic Sea
The Northern Dimension Environmental Partnership’s Nuclear Window (NDEP NW) is an established platform for eliminating nuclear hazards inherited from the Soviet nuclear fleet operations in the Arctic. The strength of the NDEP NW projects is their operating model, where the NDEP grants administered by the EBRD act as a catalyst for local and complementary national funding, including in-kind support from the beneficiaries.

NDI Policy Brief 11: Arctic shipping needs anti-avoidance rules to mitigate environmental disasters
The legal structure of the shipping industry makes it virtually impossible to make the ultimate owners of ships liable and responsible for environmental costs. There is no international regulation that would pressure the shipping industry to increase its corporate responsibility and to make more sustainable decisions of using clean fuels, improving the environmental friendliness of ships, or recycling old ships.
