13 000 euros to the students' wellbeing - vote for the best idea!

In September 2022, students were given ideas on how the university should use 13 000 euros to improve student wellbeing on campus. Now is the time to vote for the best idea to be implemented during spring 2023.

At the start of the 2022 academic year, Aalto University students were asked how they would like to spend 13,000 euros from the university's budget for campus development under the theme of students' wellbeing on campus. The idea was based on the 'one euro for every student' participatory budget project, which was organised for the first time last year. The goal is to develop the campus by involving students in decision making.

A total of 44 ideas were received both through the community conversation on aalto.fi and the Webropol form.

'Thank you to all the students who participated in the brainstorming! We received great, different kind of imaginative proposals. Some of the proposals we are promoting in the university's everyday actions. And all the proposals, which did not meet the scope of this particular project, we forwarded to the right parties who are in charge of these issues', says Head of Planning Raili Pönni.

The project organisers (representatives from the university, Aalto University Campus & Real Estate and Aalto University Student Union) reviewed all ideas and selected plausible ones for voting. All five proposals meet the main criteria of the pilot, which were student wellbeing, inclusivity, accessibility and sustainability, budget and timetable.

If you have any questions on the pilot, please contact Project Manager Aapo Pihkala, aapo.pihkala@aalto.fi.
