Dean rewards School of Business students for outstanding sustainability projects

The Dean's Impact Award is intended to show appreciation for contributions to sustainability or activities that reflect Aalto's values
Dean's Impact Award, School of Business

Again this year, the Dean of the School of Business, Timo Korkeamäki, rewards students who have completed their degrees on time and with excellent grades. This recognition (access to the Dean's list) is given to thirty students who have graduated with a Bachelor's or Master's degree during the previous academic year.

‘Naturally, our students also work in areas that are not directly reflected in their grades, but which support the school's values. As last year, I would like to reward 1–3 Bachelor's or Master's students or student teams for their work around sustainability,’ Dean Timo Korkeamäki says.

Criteria for the Dean's Impact Award

The award is open to a bachelor's or master's degree student or student team nominated by the deadline. Anyone (Aaltonian or not) may submit nominations for the student or student team to be awarded. If you nominate yourself for the award, you must also nominate two recommenders with their contact details for possible further enquiries.

The award is available for a very wide range of merits. The student or student team receiving the award may have made a significant contribution to a more sustainable future at Aalto or in the wider community. This could be a concrete action, an exemplary activity or something else that demonstrates impressive work towards sustainable development. Here again, sustainability covers environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Alternatively, the award can be given for exemplary work in the areas of Aalto's two other cross-cutting themes: radical creativity and/or an entrepreneurial mindset.

Equally, acting in line with Aalto's values is highly valued. If your actions strongly reflect responsibility, courage and/or collaboration, it is possible to be awarded the Dean's Impact Award.

Nominations with justification by 10 October

Nominations with justification should be sent in writing by e-mail to Iina Salmela, Executive Assistant to the Dean, at iina.salmela(at)aalto.fi by 10.10.2024 at the latest. There are no specific formal requirements for nominations with justification. In the title field of the email, please write Dean's Impact Award: 'and your own title', so that the nominations stand out clearly from other messages.

The final decision on the award (EUR 1 000 each) will be made by the Dean after discussion with the KY representatives. The winning students and their merits in this context will be announced on the School of Business communication channels by the end of 2024. The Dean's Impact Award was first presented in 2023.
