The Academy of Finland’s Research Council for Biosciences, Health and the Environment, Research Council for Culture and Society and Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering have decided on funding for nine new five-year research posts as Academy Research Fellow, and 18 three-year research posts as Postdoctoral Researcher.

The total amount of funding granted is 8.6 million euros of which Academy Researchers account for almost four million and postdoctoral researchers for approximately 4.6 million euros.

‘I am extremely happy and proud of the success of Aalto University’s researchers in the September 2019 call of the Academy of Finland. The university’s key research areas are again further strengthened by each individual Postdoctoral Researcher or Academy Research Fellow,’ says Ossi Naukkarinen, Vice President for Research.

Academy Researcher funding supports researchers in the middle of their careers as they qualify for the most demanding, professor-level research positions. Postdoctoral funding, in turn, supports the qualification of scientifically promising early-stage researchers as independent researchers. The funding period for an Academy Researcher is five years, and for a postdoctoral researcher three years.
