Metallurgy is history and future: Enabling true circular economy of metals
Tenured Professors' Installation Talks
The academic traditions all over the world date back to the birth of first universities in Bologna, Paris and Oxford in the 11th and 12th centuries. One of the essential traditions is the ceremony appointing new professors to the highest-ranking position of teaching in the university. The word professor stems from the Latin verb profiteri, which means to declare publicly, to acknowledge, to profess. Universities have named the events in various ways; at Aalto University we call ours the installation talks.
One of the tasks at Aalto University is to find ways to solve challenging, and often global issues. These videos present some aspects of professors’ work for a more sustainable future. We hope that viewing these videos you will find a similar passion to science and research as our professors have.
