Aalto engagement tool community guidelines

The community guidelines for the Aalto engagement tool apply to all types of content, be it text, pictures, videos or links.

These Guidelines are based on the Aalto University Code of conduct:

Code of conduct

Interacting via the Aalto engagement tool is a way to make your voice heard — here your opinion really counts. As an Aalto community member, you are more than welcome to share your opinion but, as always, please respect one another and keep things civil. The main point to remember is that things argue, not people. These guidelines apply to all types of content, be it text, pictures, videos or links.

  1. Disclosure of personal information
    • Do not post people’s addresses, phone numbers, license plate numbers, social media accounts or any other personal information.
    • It is ok to post people’s names, if they are relevant to the subject under debate.
  2. Harassment of any kind
    • Do not post any insults, threats or any type of hate speech. Bullying is not tolerated.
    • Do not post any insults towards anyone based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, political orientation, disability, or anything else.
    • Do not post any content promoting violence or sexual content.
  3. Spamming or advertisement
    • Do not post adverts, commercial content or any other unsolicited spam.
    • It is ok to talk about advertisement and marketing using examples, if it is relevant to the subject under debate.
  4. Duplicate or 3rd party content
    • Do not post the same posts over and over again. Try to keep one conversation under one topic.
    • It is ok, and even encouraged to refer and/or link to content (eg. research) from sources outside Aalto.fi, as long as it is relevant to the debate.
  5. Abuse of tool features
    • Do not be part of unnecessary or excessive mass flagging, disagreeing or other abuse of our platform features.
    • However, it is important to use our voting and relevance features, as well as flagging abusive content responsibly. This way you help our community to keep the conversation interesting.
