The , held in January 2025 at Dipoli, is the largest New Space event in Finland, in other Nordic countries, and in the Baltic region. Event is organized by Aalto University in collaboration with the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Space Science and Technology, the Remote Sensing Club, Business Finland, and the Finnish Space Administration. Winter Satellite Workshop brings annually together space technology experts, researchers, and students to discuss current topics in the rapidly evolving space sector.
This year was the sixth time the Winter Satellite Workshop was hosted at Dipoli. "The conference is organized by a research group from Aalto University, so Dipoli as the venue is a natural choice for us," said Jaan Praks from Aalto University's School of Electrical Engineering, who was the main organizer of the event. Dipoli's central location and connection to the university's broader activities make it an ideal venue for even larger seminars.
This year, the Winter Satellite Workshop conference welcomed approximately 1,500 participants, but the growth goals are clear. "This year's event was bigger than ever, and I believe we can further increase attendance over the next few years. The spaces are highly adaptable, and Dipoli could easily accommodate 2,000 participants without any issues," estimated Jaan Praks. Dipoli's scalability for larger events makes it an attractive venue for future needs as well.
The helpful staff at Dipoli and smooth collaboration have been significant factors in the event's success. "Our long experience in hosting the event at Dipoli has evolved into seamless cooperation, which simplifies the organization and provides confidence in project execution," Jaan Praks explained. The positive feedback from the event further solidifies Dipoli's reputation as a venue. "Participants have praised Dipoli as an interesting conference location," Jaan noted. The building's unique architecture and modern facilities offer an unforgettable experience for speakers, participants, and visitors alike.
