About the Centre – The world needs new thinking and the courage to act
Courage is a method
The world is changing rapidly and familiar ways of operating are no longer enough. Artificial intelligence, digital transformation and global crises require a new kind of thinking – the ability to see differently, experiment boldly and renew ourselves in a fundamental way.
Radical creativity is not the privilege of artists or creative industries. It is a measurable human skill that can be learned, led and developed – and that has a proven impact on the competitiveness of organisations and the capacity of society to renew itself.
The centre for radical creativity is an interdisciplinary actor at Aalto University that brings together science, art, technology and business. We investigate what radical creativity means for individuals, organisations and society. We support and develop education that puts these findings into practice. We work with companies, foundations and the public sector, and together we explore how creativity can change the way we think and act.
What we do
Tutkimus
We create bold research combinations that take risks and conduct internationally leading research on creativity, radical creativity and renewal.
Education
We develop programmes and courses through which creativity can be learned and led.
Collaboration
We build partnerships where research and practice meet, and enable multidisciplinary experiments.
Aalto is a unique environment for radical creativity to grow
Aalto University is one of the rare universities in the world where science, arts, technology and business operate under the same roof – and this multidisciplinary combination is the best environment for radical creativity to flourish.
Radical creativity is not a separate programme at Aalto. It is a strategic theme that runs across all six schools and 14 service functions. The Centre strengthens this cross-disciplinary collaboration and makes it visible – through research, education and engagement with society.
