Slip-cast porcelain

Les Trois Sœurs is a ceramic exploration of sisterhood, lineage, and connection to land. Inspired by the Indigenous agricultural tradition of planting corn, squash, and beans together to ensure productive yields and preserve biodiversity, this work reflects how living beings grow stronger through mutual support. Just as the crops nourish and sustain one another, my sisters and I grow through our relationship, informed by shared origins and the influence of those who came before us.

Each vessel is created from an single continuous curve using the natural contours of our faces as a tool to shape a body of clay, capturing both our familial heritage and the presence of ancestral memory. When stacked, the vessels depend on one another for balance. Their arrangement is open to change, representing how roles shift over time, with each person offering or receiving support as needed.

The materiality of clay invites touch and creates a space for connection. As a vessel, the piece holds more than form. If offers a space for sharing, for storytelling, and for reflection. Les Trois Sœurs speaks to the resilience of family, the passing down of knowledge, and the quiet strength of growing together in care and reciprocity.
