I am a Professor of Automation at Aalto University and lead the Robotic Instruments Group. My research focuses on physical and system-level robotics, developing robotic instruments, experimental platforms, and interaction methods for manipulating small, lightweight, deformable, and otherwise hard-to-handle objects. I have more than two decades of experience in robotic instrumentation, micromanipulation, and field-mediated manipulation, gained through dozens of research projects funded by the European Commission, the Academy of Finland / Research Council of Finland, and TEKES / Business Finland. My work spans robotic manipulation methods based on diverse physical interaction principles, including soft-matter and droplet interfaces, acoustic and airflow fields, and electromagnetic fields...
