DesignTalks series consists of seven lectures during December 2021 – June 2022. Each event will have its own theme discussing the relevance of design in different contexts such as sustainable development, corporations, cities, business-to-business, research, accessibility, creative projects, and many more.
The series will complement and continue our introductory on-line course to design, . The series of talks is open to everyone, but Aalto students can get one 1 ECTS study credit upon participating to all lectures and returning a learning diary.

Marco Mäkinen, Chief Strategy Officer at TBWA.
Marco Mäkinen works as the Chief Strategy Officer at TBWA in Helsinki. TBWA was named one of the world’s most innovative companies by Fast Company for the last three years. David Griner of Adweek wrote "If you are not familiar with TBWA\Helsinki, you should fix that. I'd argue it's one of the most fascinating offices in the world.” TBWA is known as the Disruption Company and it helps companies like Apple, Airbnb, Adidas, Netflix and Moderna create a category of one with creativity.

Riikka Mäkikoskela, Head of Radical Creativity at Aalto University.
Dr. Riikka Mäkikoskela works as Head of Radical Creativity at Aalto University. Radical Creativity is one of the three cross-cutting approaches of the Aalto University's strategy. Aalto University is a pioneering organization that strengthens radical creativity in all its activities. Mäkikoskela has extensive teaching experience, for example at Aalto University and University of Helsinki. In addition, Mäkikoskela has worked as a researcher in Aalto University. Strategic work she has done as the Executive Director of Finnish Association of Visual Arts Schools and as the Secretary General of the Year of Research-based Knowledge at Academy of Finland and Ministry of Education and Culture. For Mäkikoskela, creativity opens up a world full of opportunities.
