Juulia Suvilehto, M.Sc.(Tech.), will defend the dissertation "Maintaining social bonds via touching: A cross-cultural study" on 15 November 2018 at 12 at the Aalto University School of Science, Lumituuli-auditorium in Dipoli, Otakaari 24, Espoo. In the dissertation, it is shown how the way social touch is used and the neural correlates of social touch depend on the relationship between the toucher and the person being touched. Social touching in different cultures is much less different that what was previously believed.
