Wellbeing Practices – Learning from What Works: Making Waves 27.05.2026

What makes a team truly supportive, motivating, and sustainable to work in? Why do some groups consistently create environments where people feel valued, heard, and able to do their best work? This Making Waves event focuses on wellbeing practices in academic work communities and explores how healthy team cultures are built – not through one-time initiatives, but through everyday habits, leadership choices, and shared responsibility.

This Making Waves event focuses on wellbeing practices in academic work communities and explores how healthy team cultures are built – not through one-time initiatives, but through everyday habits, leadership choices, and shared responsibility.

The event starts by looking at Aalto’s wellbeing survey results and how workplace wellbeing has developed over the years. HR specialist Anne Petroff will highlight both the positive progress and the areas where more work is still needed.

We will then hear from prof. Matilda Backholm, whose team scored especially well in the survey. She will share practical examples of what helps build a strong, supportive team culture in everyday work.

The event ends with more tea/coffee and open discussion.
