Project Diamant focuses on novel thin membrane antenna technology development and commercialization for space applications. In today's interconnected world, the demand for reliable 5G and emerging 6G connectivity is paramount, spanning across urban centers to remote regions. Space-based 5G and 6G connectivity can provide service anywhere in the world without the need for a dense terrestrial infrastructure network. However, providing satellite-based connectivity is currently highly expensive. Since hand-held devices are very small, they need a strong signal from space for high performance connectivity. A strong signal requires a high gain antenna that focuses the radio wave energy to a narrow beam towards Earth. State-of-the-art large area antennas are heavy and require complex deployment systems, which leads to the need for heavy and expensive satellite missions. The high mission cost leads to expensive services for the end customers utilizing the satellite connectivity services. The solution to this challenge is DIAMANT (Deployable Integrated Advanced Membrane ANTenna), an innovative antenna poised to transform the landscape of satellite communication. DIAMANT addresses a pressing need in the space industry by offering high-gain, lightweight antennas for small satellites.
