Public transport networks
In our research project we aim to collect public transport timetable data around the world, curate the data, and publish it in a variety of formats available to be used for both transit planners as well as network scientists.
Community detection in complex networks
Most networks are not homogenious, meaning that some sets of nodes are more connected among themselves than to the rest of the network. The aim of community detection is to study this mezo-scale structure and devise algorithms that would identify these sets of nodes.
Circadian rhythms
e are currently working on both massive databases of auto-recorded digital data as well as personal sensors (wristbands, bed sensors) to study circadian patterns.
Working together for water
The world will soon run out of water. The Majakka Graduate School in Water Science and Technology is setting out to tackle such issues fearlessly and break the mold of traditional ways of doing dissertations, as its students aim for goals beyond their oral defences.
Evaluation of achieved learning outcomes and the current state of teaching
Programme development starts with a comprehensive knowledge-based self-evaluation of the different areas within a programme.
Events March 2020

Now he has a chance to work on customer experience development at the energy company Helen and tackle challenges related to the transition of the energy industry.
Human/Non-Human Interconnections in Art, Visual Culture & Everyday Life
鈥淎rt and art-based learning provides us with an alternative way of perceiving the climate crisis. It has the potential to motivate new modes of engaging with and caring for a world which is more important than ourselves. Art and art-based learning can encourage us to make new connections between living things, objects and materials,鈥 a ViCCA student proposes.
