2.7 million euros in funding to Callstats.io, a company that is aiming to improve the quality of multimedia calls

The founding members of the company predicting quick growth carried out research on multimedia at Aalto.

Callstats.io, which analyses the quality of audio and video calls made with WebRTC technology, has received a total of $3 million, i.e. 2.7 million euros, during its series A funding round.

WebRTC is a technology that is set to become part of the HTML standard, which will facilitate multimedia calls in browsers without the need to install plugins. Callstats.io analyses the quality of audio and video calls that utilise WebRTC and helps its clients to improve the quality of those calls.

'We believe that more than 20,000 companies will adopt WebRTC in the next few years. Video already accounts for the majority of online traffic, and we predict that traffic will further grow as a result of live communication and live-streaming鈥, describes Callstats.io CEO Varun Singh, who received his doctorate from Aalto University in 2015, and whose dissertation and other standardization activities formed the basis for Callstats.io's technology.

In addition to Mr Singh, the company's founding members include J枚rg Ott, who has been a professor at Aalto for over ten years, and has been standardising the internet since the 90s, Marcin Nagy, who is writing his dissertation on information security in network technology at Aalto, as well as Shaohong Li who is completing his Master's programme studies at Aalto. Both Mr Nagy's and Mr Li's Master's theses and other research accumulated knowledge were important for building Callstats.io.

Callstats.io will use the investment on product development and to strengthen its marketing and sales. WebRTC technology is predicted to grow exponentially and increase the use of communication services and the need for their analysis, and the company is pursuing quick international growth.
