Aalto 10 km & 5 km sports event cancelled
Aalto 10 km & 5 km sports event, which was scheduled to take place on 20 September, has been cancelled. There are more than 1,000 people who have registered for the event. Although it is an outdoor event, the risk of infection and exposure increases when large crowds of people get together.
Due to the uncertain corona situation, the university recommends that events and exhibitions are arranged remotely for the time being. In order to be able to study, research, and work safely on campus despite diagnosed coronavirus infections, the organization of events for both staff and students must be carefully considered.
‘The Aalto 10k & 5k is a traditional and wonderful event that unites staff, students and alumni. However, now is not a good time to organize big meetings, but to take responsibility for one's own safety and health as well as of others,’ says Riitta Silvennoinen, Chief Human Resources Officer.
The responsible organizer of the event, Espoo Rantamaraton, will instruct the participants on the details related to the cancellation.
