Members of the Hydromet research group recently attended the World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF 2019) that was held in Finlandia Hall, Helsinki from 3rd to 4th June as part of a joint initiative between Aalto Sustainability Hub (ASH) and Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science (HELSUS). Presentations by the team included one-on-one discussions related to the sustainable circulation of critically important metals with a range of key stakeholders from education, industry, politics and NGOs.

In addition, a representation of the BATCircle project based on the different stages required for the industrial recycling of Li-Ion batteries was also on display and generated a significant amount of discussion related to the need to more effectively deal with battery wastes and the increased demand for Co, Ni, Li and REMs for electric vehicle (EV) applications.
