Aalto part of radiation safety research collaboration
Finland’s Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority and Finnish universities have established a consortium to coordinate radiation safety research.
The consortium consists of Finland’s Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK), Aalto University, University of Eastern Finland, University of Jyväskylä, University of Tampere, Tampere University of Technology, University of Turku, University of Oulu, Lappeenranta University of Technology and University of Helsinki.
Aalto’s Professor Filip Tuomisto from the Department of Applied Physics is a member of the management group in the constortium.
The consortium was founded due to changes in Finland’s research fundings which lead to STUK minimizing the funding for its own research. With the consortium the research of radiation safety is continuing.
