Aalto professors amongst the new consortia funded by the Academy of Finland

The consortia were chosen on the basis of research quality, societal significance and impact.

Academy of Finland has on 19 June decided on the strategic research funding for new consortiums. Four professors from the Aalto University Department of Design are working in the awarded consortia.

Mikko Jalas, consortium ORSI: Towards Eco-Welfare State: Orchestrating for Systemic Impact

Julia Lohmann consortium BioColour: Bio Based Dyes and Pigments for Colour Palet

Kirsi Niinimäki, consortium FINIX: Sustainable textile systems: Co-creating resource-wise business for Finland in global textile networks

Annamari Vänskä, consortium IDA: Intimacy in Data-Driven Culture (CULT)

The Strategic Research Council (SRC) at the Academy of Finland provides funding to long-term and programme-based research aimed at finding solutions to the major challenges facing Finnish society.

Altogether 51 million euro was awarded into four programmes, all consisting of three consortia. All programmes are new and will operate until 2025. Deicisions were based on emphasizing long-term research that aims to find solutions to important societal challenges. Funding criteria was based on research quality, societal significance and impact.
