Aalto strong in international outlook in the Times Higher Education ranking
Aalto University’s ranking in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021 was between 201 and 250, compared to 184th place from last year.
The Times Higher Education general ranking measures universities’ success according to 13 indicators related to the international outlook, research, citations, teaching and industry income. Aalto’s strongest area was the international outlook.
The ranking includes more than 1 500 universities across 93 countries. For the fifth year in a row, the University of Oxford leads the rankings in first place.
The Times Higher Education also publishes a ranking list of young universities. In the listing published last June, Aalto University was placed 20th among universities under 50 of age, and fifth among millennial universities.
For a university like Aalto, which specialises in technology as well as business and arts, general rankings may be less relevant than rankings by field or subject which the Times Higher Education is expected to release later this year. In the ShanghaiRanking by subject published this June, ten of Aalto’s fields ranked in the global top 100.
