Aalto University's ±·Ã¤²â³Ùö²õ22 brings a world-class fashion show to audiences online

The fashion industry is building its new future in a post-covid world. Right now, the industry is looking for ways to reform its operations to become more sustainable, and this means a more visionary approach. There is a particular need for fresh ideas and skilled professionals. In June, the sector will look ºÚÁÏÍø University, which has established itself as a major player in the global fashion, clothing and textiles industries. The collections of Aalto students will be presented at the annual ±·Ã¤²â³Ùö²õ22 fashion show, arguably one of the most important fashion events in Northern Europe.

As last year, ±·Ã¤²â³Ùö²õ22 will take place online, and it accessible to all. The young designers' collections will be unveiled on Thursday 2 June 2022 at 5 p.m. CET (7 p.m. GMT+3) at the website aalto.fashion

Post-covid hybrid work has enabled students to make a long-awaited return to campus. The sense of community and the joy of genuine encounters are not only visible in the collections and concepts of many Aalto Fashion designers, but also in the tangible form of interdisciplinary collaboration. Both Aalto students of stage and sound design and professionals from the Aalto Studios media centre have been involved in the design and implementation of the show.

±·Ã¤²â³Ùö²õ22 is part of the wider Fashion in Helsinki fashion week. Its varied programme also includes an exhibition of Aalto Fashion Collaborative Projects by Aalto University fashion BA students, which will be on display from 28 May to 5 June in central Helsinki. 

Aalto University researchers Annamari Vänskä, Jenni Hokka and Natalia Särmäkari will also be publishing their book Intimacy during the Fashion Week. Intimacy touches on topics such as fashion, identity and digitality.
