ABB's cooperation with Aalto University deepens - ABB becomes a Premium Partner of the School of Business

Collaboration in teaching brings new ideas for ABB and makes it known as a potential employer for business students.

ABB and the School of Business have signed a three-year Premium Partner contract, which has been valid since the beginning of 2024. The cooperation has been planned during the spring so that it complements ABB's strategic partnership with Aalto University as well as possible.

In the changing world, business development is more important than ever, and ABB hopes to get fresh perspectives from our students through various projects. The cooperation started with a group of students helping ABB to study the utilization of a results-based business model. ABB's internationality, its role as a developer of solutions in accordance with sustainable development, and the experience of doing business in a changing world brought by a long history provide excellent foundations for the cooperation.

Dean Timo Korkeamäki is very enthusiastic about the future cooperation with ABB: "Sustainable development solutions require an enormous amount of good management, accurate analysis and innovation. In my opinion, all of these are realized in this partnership. In our courses and in various projects, our students benefit from the extensive experience gained by ABB people., On the other hand, ABB will certainly gain fresh insights into the further development of its operations," says Korkeamäki.

ABB has already participated in the teaching of the School of Business, especially at the Department of Accounting. Professor and head of the department Teemu Malmi says that ABB representatives have held visiting lectures and collaborated on the accounting department's master's level Capstone course. "Both ABB units and students have been satisfied with the cooperation." Discussions about a school-wide partnership actually started thanks to this cooperation.

Miikka Aho (Head of SSU Drives at ABB) says: "We take responsibility for learning, for developing a feedback-driven culture and for growth. A good example of this is the Capstone courses that have brought together Aalto students and ABB experts. Together we have learned new perspectives and created concrete solutions and innovations."

ABB has also been a regular participant in events aimed at students, and for example at Aalto Talent Expo 2023, it received the most mentions from students as the fair's most interesting exhibitor. ABB also has its own sponsored lecture hall in the Undergraduate Centre. The aim is that through the partnership of the School of Business, more and more business students will get to know ABB as a great employer as well.
