Some highlights from the Alumni survey

The goal of the survey conducted in spring 2025 was to assess alumni interest and satisfaction with various participation opportunities and services, as well as to gather feedback and development suggestions. The majority of respondents had completed a master's degree and graduated after 2006.

Alumni value networking and professional development

Alumni primarily receive information from the university through event invitations, the Aaltoliikettä newsletter, and the Aalto University Magazine. As many as 38 percent of respondents had participated in one or more events in the past year. Alumni are most interested in events related to their field, parties, and informal networking events. One-third of respondents are considering further education at Aalto University.

Alumni from the field of business are particularly interested in business strategies, investing, and entrepreneurship. Alumni from the field of technology are interested in future technologies and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Alumni from art, design, and architecture are interested in events in the creative fields, art-focused occasions and workshops, as well as professional development and career design. As many as 17 percent have acted as lecturers at the School of Arts, Design, and Architecture.

Community spirit has strengthened

Even 37 percent of the respondents feel they belong to their own school or field of study community, and nearly as many feel they are part of the Aalto community, which is more than in the previous survey in 2020.

Half of the business alumni feel strongly connected to their own school or field of study community, while alumni in technology most strongly relate to their major or degree program community. The most positive alumni experience is reported by alumni from Aalto EE and the School of Business.

Respondents believe that Aalto University has significant societal impact, evident in widely cited research, media visibility, and alumni influence in business. According to the survey, the university's relevance and appeal continue primarily through high-level research and education.
