An active student life also promotes employment opportunities

Students preparing for the matriculation exam got an introduction to studies and career opportunities in the School of Chemical Technology at the Koe

The first stop in the tour of the School of Chemical Technology was the Learning Hub, where the students received information about studying at the school and the opportunities it opens up. A Master of Science specialising in chemical technology has many work options to choose from, ranging from the metals industry to the refining of renewable materials, the food processing industry or founding one鈥檚 own company. In spite of the current poor economic conditions, those graduating from the school find work just as easily, and there are many ways to bolster one鈥檚 career prospects. One of these is a carefully considered and distinctive choice of minor subjects; Aalto University very much encourages students to boldly select minor subjects from outside their own school, or to study them abroad.  There is also benefit in an active student life: In Aalto's many guilds, clubs and associations, one can not only have fun but also network and gather necessary skills for working life.

Studies in the School of Chemical Technology are practical and interactive: a large part of the studies take place in laboratories and through students' own projects.  Of course there are also lectures, but even in these active interaction is a desired goal.  Those taking part in the tour had the chance to observe a lecture where first year students grilled industry representatives on matters such as sustainable development, which has an increasingly important place in the operations of Finnish companies.
