The grant committee for the Aalto University鈥檚 Fabian ja Jaakko Ahvenainen Foundation announces grants that will be admitted in recognition of the studies completed either in the field of bridge engineering or in the field of structural engineering and building physics. The grants range from 1500 euros to 4500 euros. The grants and their values will depend on the number of applicants and the level of applicant鈥檚 studies.

Grant criteria

Eligible grant applicants include Master's degree students and post-graduate students of the School of Engineering at Aalto University as well as persons who recently completed their Master's or postgraduate degrees and familiarized with bridge engineering, structural engineering or building physics in their studies.

Applications

A short free-form application to the grant committee should describe the applicant's specialization in bridge engineering, structural engineering or building physics and the applicant's academic performance as well as the applicant's contact information (name, email address and telephone number). The applicant is asked to mention in the application whether the emphasis of applicant鈥檚 studies has been on 鈥渂ridge engineering鈥 or 鈥渟tructural engineering and building physics鈥.

Enclosures: extract of study records or degree certificate with course list

Applications must be submitted to the Department of Civil Engineering via email to ahvenaisenrahasto@aalto.fi by 29 January 2021.

The Fabian and Jaakko Ahvenainen Foundation equally supports both the field of bridge engineering and the field of structural engineering and building physics in the long-term. In the assessment of applications, the purpose of the donator of initial capital to promote constructive structural engineering will also be considered.

The grants will be published and awarded in February-March. Grant recipients will be informed by email. Due to the corona pandemic, the date and arrangement of the grant event will be decided later.
