Assistant Professor Mauri Kostiainen received Young Researcher Award

Kostiainen's work is dynamically new, creative and significant from the perspective of technological development.

Assistant Professor Mauri Kostiainen received the Young Researcher Award from Tekniikan edist盲miss盲盲ti枚 (Foundation for the Promotion of Technological Advances) on Monday, 1 June 2015. The amount of the award is EUR 15 000. In the view of the Foundation, Mauri Kostiainen鈥檚 research work is dynamically new, creative and significant from the perspective of technological development. TES pointed out also that his research themes offer application possibilities for business life.

Mauri Kostiainen leads Biohybrid materials research group at the Department of Department of Biotechnology and Chemical Technology and he is part of the Academy of Finland's. Kostiainen's goal is to develop new biohybrid materials by combining the best properties of synthetic and biological materials as next-generation functional materials. Kostiainen has established a strong research team and inspired new students towards biohybrid self-assembled materials by teaching and supervising. 

Kostiainen defended at Aalto University, School of Science, Department of Applied Physics in 2008. He was a Post Doctoral researcher in Institute for Molecules and Materials, Radboud University Nijmegen in 2008-2010. Kostiainen was granted for Academy Post Doctoral reseacher 2011-2013, and Academy Research Fellow in 2013.
