The construction of the Jokeri Light Rail is under preparation in May, so that construction can begin as early as possible in June. Preparatory work includes tree felling at Maarintie and Vaisalantie, and in Helsinki, west of Patterimäki. Trees will be felled following the new light railway and street alignments, and at Patterimäki following a new escape route. The felling areas are designed precisely so that the crashes are done only to the extent necessary.

In Otaniemi, south of Maarintie's current pedestrian and bicycle path, trees are felled for about 250 meters following the new alignment of the street. At the northern end of Vaisalantie, trees are felled according to the light railway line and a few individual trees around the site. The felling of trees begins on week 21 and will be completed in May. The work is carried out by a subcontractor of the Raide-Jokeri Alliance.

The construction will begin at Maarintie in June

Construction will start in the coming summer in 22 different locations in Helsinki and Espoo. The duration of work at different sites varies from one year to four years. Construction begins with preparatory work, such as  work traffic arrangements and preparation of construction site support areas. Trees and surface soil are removed in some places, as well as new water supply lines are built.

The construction of high-speed railways will start in Espoo on Monday, 3 June at Maarintie and Ravitie.

After setting up the temporary road changes, Maarintie will be the first to perform topsoil removal, soil profiling and bottom reinforcement work. In addition, the ground cabling work on the 110 kilovolt transmission line, which has been ongoing since last autumn in Laajalahti, east of Kehä I, will continue until October.

During June, work will begin in a total of 13 different locations and in August in nine new sites. The impact of construction work for the coming summer, including traffic, will be communicated in more detail during May.

Contruction will begin in nine new sites in July-August

In late summer, the construction work that has already started will continue and work will begin in nine new sites. In Espoo, construction will begin in July-August at Maarinrannantie, Tietotie Konemiehentie, Linnoitustie and the new Impilahdensilta crossing Turunväylä. In Helsinki, the works will move to Pitäjänmäentie from the Pajamäentie junction towards the east.
