The New European Bauhaus initiative connects the European Green Deal to our living spaces. It calls on all Europeans to imagine and build together a sustainable and inclusive future that is beautiful for our eyes, minds, and souls. The EU commission gathers concrete insights and ideas for its investments during the co-design phase in Spring 2021.

‘We now have a unique opportunity to directly influence the EU Commission, and which topics they take on their agenda. Normally, many people would try to lobby the Commission to take up themes that they find important, but calls would come from the Commission and we could then try to respond to them. This time the process is the opposite – the Commission is actually asking us what we think would be important or meaningful in the future,' says Professor Anna Valtonen, who has been involved in discussing and developing several EU initiatives.

European Commission has promised to go through all the proposals they’ll get by the end of April 2021. â€˜No-one knows yet which themes will emerge as the desired building blocks of New European Bauhaus. We all can and should contribute to this now’, Valtonen encourages.

What would be the future Nordic way of living and building our communities sustainably, inclusively and aesthetically within the planetary boundaries? Aalto encourages everyone in our community to share their ideas and examples and challenges we need to solve to achieve this paradigm shift to resource-wisdom.
