Planning officer Sirje Liukko has had a long career in academia, first as a research assistant in chemistry and later in administrative positions. In her current role as a PhD programme Planning Officer at the School of Chemical Engineering, her tasks include advising applicants and providing administrative support to students from the beginning of their studies to the pre-screening and graduation of their dissertations.

Prior to her current role, she has worked in various positions as a chemist and research assistant in various companies and Aalto University.

Sirje Liukko is appreciated in the working community as a solid substance expert whose holistic and critical approach helps and encourages future doctoral researchers to achieve their goals on time and with attention to important details. She is also a well-liked and respected member of the working community, both among teaching and research staff and among administrative staff.
