Double victory for Aalto students at Designers' Nest
Both winners are currently Master's students at Aalto University, and their collections were seen last spring at the Aalto University's Näytös18 fashion show.
Inspired by factory workers in the second world war, 50s housewives and silver screen goddesses, Henna Lampinen has given the feminine a new uniform made of a collective of textiles and techniques such as hand knitting, printing, and exaggerated stitching.
Through well-crafted story-telling and an imaginative sense of narrative, Tuuli-Tytti’s collection tells the story of a creepy grandmother living in a house that is stuck in the 60s. Her collection demonstrates different ways of making clothes with many surprising details.
The winner of the Designers’ Nest Award will receive a cash prize of DKK 50,000 to further develop and promote her or his talent, a study trip to UEDA College of Fashion in Osaka in Japan and a pop-up exhibition in the concept store Black Store in Copenhagen. The three winners will be featured in Danish Elle Magazine.
Designer’s Nest is a non-profit contest run in collaboration with the six leading Nordic design schools, founded in 2003.
