EIT RawMaterials Newsletter - 2019/May

In this spring newsletter edition, we are back with a lot of exciting news and developments!

The call for new projects (call for activities starting in 2020) officially closed on 15 February 2019. EIT RawMaterials partners have submitted 154 proposals in the following areas: 

  • 52 in Education
  • 21 in Internationalisation and Regional Innovation Scheme 
  • 81 in Up-scaling Innovation projects.

Project evaluations took place in March and April, and we have finalised the proposed portfolio selection which will be presented to the Executive Board in May for final approval. The 2020 projects strengthen industry participation and include a strong Lighthouse Innovation Programmes portfolio.
 

This year the  will be hosted in Belgium, Finland, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Sweden. We welcome all high school and university students to join the events and learn about the importance of minerals, metals and raw materials for modern life and the green energy transition of Europe. Education programmes and future career opportunities will be presented!

Also, this spring, the RawMaterials Academy has launched the  calling all sustainability pioneers keen to deepen their understanding of the pressing raw material challenges of Future Mobility to join the competition. The application is now closed, and selected Master students will be notified shortly. The RACE is a learning journey across Europe that will gather innovators to unlock solutions to making mobility sustainable in Europe and will take place on 18-31 August 2019. 

The second Start-up and SME Booster Call 2019 is now open! We invite all entrepreneurs with novel solutions to have an impact in the raw materials sector to  for Booster funding by 14 June 2019.  

This April, EIT RawMaterials and our partner Veolia launched the  in the field of innovative recycling and circular economy. Idea holders with innovative recycling solutions for electronic waste, secondary products and composite materials are invited to apply for the call by 31 May 2019!
