Firewalls will be taken into use again

Aalto ITS installed Next Generation Firewalls a few weeks ago but unfortunately firewall software were working unstably.

The firewalls were taken out from the production network while the cause of the problems was solved together with the firewall supplier.

The causes have now been identified and the firewalls’ software have been upgraded in order to minimize the possibility of similar challenges.

The firewalls will be again taken into use on Wednesday, 25 April 2018 at 7 pm.  The change will not cause any network interruptions. However, the risk of unexpected network failures will be elevated until we are sure that the new software is working stably.

Centralized Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) will improve the security of Aalto IT environment. With NGFW, Aalto’s network will fulfill modern security requirements. Devices and data will be better protected against unauthorized use or data leaks.
