First progress report of the National Doctoral Education Pilot published
The first progress report of the National Doctoral Education Pilot has been published. The report highlights 12 conclusions and three recommendations.
A few highlights of the results:
- 6.7% of applicants obtained a doctoral researcher position in the pilots
- 73% of doctoral researchers are under 30 years old
- 52% of doctoral researchers are foreigners
- 92% are working on an article thesis
- 82% plan to write their doctoral thesis in a language other than Finnish national languages
- 66% intend to complete their degree within three years
- 54% find it challenging to complete their degree within the given timeframe
- 78% are interested in working in companies in Finland after graduation
