On May 7, the Academy of Finland has awarded a total of about 9 million euros to 20 new Academy Research Fellows and 11 million euros to 43 new Postdoctoral Researchers in the fields of Natural Sciences and Engineering. Of these, Aalto University has received a total of about 1.7 million euros for Academy Research Fellow posts and a total of approximately 3.5 million euros for Postdoctoral Researcher posts. The funding period starts on 1 September 2019.

Both forms of financing are highly competitive. Approximately 10 per cent of all applications submitted to the Academy Research Fellowship and about 16 per cent of the applications submitted to the Postdoctoral Researcher were funded.
