Future of Aalto ARTS - A community vision

What does the future of the School of Arts and Design look like? What do we need to do together to move towards our goal?

The principle of Aalto University’s living strategy means that each of its schools regularly reflects on its mission, values, and ways of operating, engaging the entire community in this process. In 2019, the community of the School of Arts, Design and Architecture began a collective reflection on the future of the school. The aim was to learn from one another and gather collective insights, not by controlling but by promoting creative chaos as our force. The work remains in progress, and the most recent re-evaluation of these findings was made in the autumn of 2024. We will continue to review these choices regularly with the entire community in the future.

At this moment, the world is undergoing ecological, technological, social, and economic changes that are fundamentally reshaping our way of life. The scale and complexity of these changes are unprecedented. In order to respond to the challenges posed by these transformations, we need new ways of thinking as well as innovative, concrete solutions.

Our school offers these solutions for a changing world. Our values and ways of operating guide our long-term direction, and we choose the areas of development and actions that will best take us towards our goal.

Join us in exploring these ideas further!
