Hannu-Pekka Komsa receives BCG Travel award
Dr Komsa was awarded the travel award at the 13th International Conference: Advanced Carbon NanoStructures. The award is in memory of the distinguished scientist Professor Roger Taylor (1935 – 2006), Emeritus Professor of Chemistry at the University of Sussex, United Kingdom. It is given to early career researchers for recognition and to attend an important international meeting for the advancement of fullerene and related science, such as the functionalisation of carbon materials including carbon nanotubes and graphene.
Prof. Malcolm Heggie, the Chair of British Carbon Group, presents the award and eight hundred pounds sterling (£800) to Hannu-Pekka Komsa in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Komsa attended the conference in Saint Petersburg, Russia, presenting a paper, "Dynamics of CsI and I atomic chains inside carbon nanotubes".
An Academy of Finland Research Fellow, Komsa works closely with the research group.
