How to accelerate innovations, ensure food sequrity and make cities green? Sustainability Science Days seeks answers to the huge sustainability challenges of our time
This year's event will discuss, for example, how new innovations can be made available to everyone more quickly, how new solutions in food production chains could improve food security or what we can learn from indigenous peoples. Sustainability Science Days seeks answers to the links between different sectors, actors, geographies, markets, practices and lifestyles.
鈥淭he event is not limited to listing problems, but aims to find solutions to build a sustainable society. I hope the event opens up conversations that bring about change. Climate and biodiversity crises and major tensions in the global political situation have made these discussions more important than ever, 鈥漵ays Susanna Lehv盲virta, Director of the Institute of Sustainability at the University of Helsinki.
The themes of the two-day science conference include systemic solutions, food, governance and urban change.
鈥淲e need a lot of creativity and imagination to move towards a new kind of sustainable society. Changes at the system level have been chosen as the theme for this year, because the challenges and crises of our time cannot be dealt with separately, everything is connected to everything, 鈥漵ays 陌dil Gaziulusoy, Assistant Professor of Sustainable Design at Aalto University.
