The Finnish Independence Day awards granted by the President of Finland Sauli Niinistö went to two employees of Aalto joint services.

Merja Puronaho, Staff Secretary, was awarded the First Class Medal of the White Rose of Finland with golden cross. Puronaho has had an active role as shop steward for JHL and the Aalto community. She has a great disposition and positive charisma, and she keeps distributing her years of collected information to her colleagues. 

Antti Raike, Senior Advisor in accessibility,was awarded the Cross of Merit of the White Rose of Finland. Raike has actively driven the university-wide goals on equality and accessibility in studies, research and other activities. He is an active problem solver in matters of accessibility.
