INFERNOS - on a way towards more energy-efficient future
Successful INFERNOS-project introduces results that weren't supposed to be possible. The findings could lead towards more energy-efficient future.
Persistent and visionary research lays the foundations for radically new, next generation technologies to benefit our economy and society. With the support of the European Union, investments in high risk, long term, multidisciplinary and collaborative frontier research can turn into success.
The INFERNOS-project, coordinated by Aalto, has succesfully proven the "impossible" by demonstrating how information is converted to energy using feedback from the measurement. The device called "Maxwell's demon" does this with the help of nano technology. This achievement could lead towards more energy-efficient future.
