International cooperation makes building with wood even more attractive
The international Forum Wood Building Nordic conference will be held at Aalto University in Otaniemi on 15鈥17 June 2016. The theme of the event is Progress through collaboration. This multidisciplinary conference combines wood architecture and construction with forest products technology and marketing. The conference will bring together academics and practitioners from different fields of wood construction.
'The aim is to learn from experiences around the world and develop wood construction in a way that makes it even more international and attractive,' says Pekka Heikkinen, Head of Aalto University Department of Architecture.
In additional to multidisciplinary lectures, the conference will include an exhibition and excursion. The event will bring together wood construction researchers, building designers, contractors, builders, societal decision-makers and authorities as well as industry and trade. Companies will present their solutions and meet customers at the conference.
Held on the Otaniemi campus of Aalto University, the conference is being organised by Aalto University, the City of Espoo, the Finnish Timber Council and the Confederation of Finnish Construction Industries RT. This is the main event for wood construction in Europe. The Nordic version of the German International Forum Holzbau conference has previously been held in Finland, Sweden and Norway.
