Aalto University's School of Electrical Engineering offers two new Finnish-taught Bachelor's level study options, one in the field of electronics and electrophysics (elektroniikka ja sähköfysiikka in Finnish) and other in electrical power engineering (²õä³ó°ìö±ð²Ô±ð°ù²µ¾±²¹³Ù±ð°ì²Ô¾±¾±°ì°ì²¹). The new study options replace the old study option called elektroniikka ja sähkötekniikka.

The Electronics and Electrophysics (elektroniikka ja sähköfysiikka) major provides students with a strong grounding in the theories and concepts of electrical engineering. Students will deepen their knowledge of physics and mathematics, and explore topics such as electronic design, wireless technology or semiconductor technology, according to their own choices.

'The future is made with electricity! The Electronics and Electrophysics major has high-quality teaching and motivated teachers. It's a positive and forward-looking field that offers a wide range of opportunities for a Master's degree and a career,' says Anu Lehtovuori, the head of the major.

In the Electrical Power Engineering (²õä³ó°ìö±ð²Ô±ð°ù²µ¾±²¹³Ù±ð°ì²Ô¾±¾±°ì°ì²¹) major, students will gain a strong basic knowledge of electrical power engineering under the guidance of experts in the field. The major will teach students how to analyse, model and simulate electrical power systems and the main components used in energy conversion. The study option provides an excellent preparation for working life through practical workshop courses and close cooperation with companies.

'A secure and sustainable electricity system is the foundation of a functioning society. Students of electrical engineering play an important role in creating sustainable and energy-efficient solutions that reduce carbon dioxide emissions,' says Marko Hinkkanen, the head of the major.
